Playful Backgrounds meets Timeless Textures and Washi Tape: Another Sunny Card...

Playful BackGrounds, Timeless Textures and You've Got This from Stampin' Up! Available from

Another sunny card for you today: this is the second one I'm sharing from my July class. I do love a clean and simple card, and this one has enough detail to make it interesting, but it isn't cluttered. I love "busy" cards, but the more time I spend stamping, the more I realise that they're really not my style. Somehow, even if I CASE them, what looks beautiful when someone else does it, looks cluttered and overly-fussy when I do. It used to bother me, but over the years I've got more comfortable with the fact that we all have our own style, and mine is much more pared-back, it would seem.

Don't you just love the colour scheme? This is Daffodil Delight teamed with Tranquil Tide, for the most part. The yellow stamping is So Saffron, as I wanted the background to sort of float behind the washi and the sentiment, and the brighter yellow would just have made it fight for top billing. You could do something similar using Daffold Delight ink, by stamping off before stamping onto your card, but I had the So Saffron right next to me so... I love how it all works together. I'm enjoying playing with the new Stampin' Up! washi tape basics packs - such a quick and effective way to add a different texture. This one is the Basics Pack 2, but there are two other colourways available, plus a black-and-white pack too. Here they all are together, so you can see them more clearly:

Aren't they gorgeous?! I have the pinks and the yellows at the moment, but I'm working up to the blues and monochrome.

Here's a close-up of the sentiment and the stamped / washi background:

Good Things are Going to Happen

The sentiment is from You've Got This and, quite apart from the fact that I love the wording, don't you think it's a lovely font?

I'll be back in a few days with another post and - I'll hold my hands up now - it's a Christmassy one! You have been warned.... Do pop back and have a look, because I'll be telling you how you can get your hands on a fantastic early release set that will help you get a real head start on all those Christmas cards you'll want to make. It IS the second half of the year, after all.... *smiles sweetly*

Thanks for dropping in, and I'll see you in a few days. Have a great weekend! xx
