This is a great card for this time of year! As I write this, we have gorgeous autumn sunshine streaming in, but yesterday it poured with rain (and I mean POURED!) all day. The leaves are definitely starting to turn, and our neighbours' sunflowers are beginning to bow their heads now. I love September!
Plus - I have a brand new washing machine, after three weeks without one (don't ask!), so all's well with the world. But that's a different story...
The stamp set I've used on this card is from the new Autumn / Winter Catalogue. It's called "Lighthearted Leaves", and it's just lovely. I haven't tried it yet, but I think the images would be perfect if you're into Zentangle. For my part, I wanted to focus on the form of the leaf, and on the colours that are so characteristic of this time of year. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
I used a technique that I haven't used in a while, but which is always really effective. Here's how I got the variegated colouring: I inked up both stamps in the same way, starting with an all-over overing of Tip Top Taupe, then using daubers to sponge randomly onto the stamp with Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso. Quick and easy! After a quick "huff" to reactivate the inks, I stamped them onto Whisper White cardstock. Finally, I dragged some of the colour into the leaf image from the stamped lines, using a Blender Pen. I kept the effect subtle, but it's just enough to wake the leaf up a little. What do you think?
Two of the corners are punched using my new Curvy Corner Trio Punch, and then I layered up onto Cajun Craze cardstock (embossed using the Lovely Lace folder), on top of a Crushed Curry card base. Two Crushed Curry Candy Dots at the corners echo the base cardstock and just give a lift to the whole thing.
