Welcome!

Wed 26 Oct 2016

Hello! I have a confession to make.... This week has been unbelievably hectic, what with juggling everything to do with getting the house ready to rent, so I don't have a finished Midweek Make-Over project for you. BUT, what I DO have, is a sneaky peek at what I'm going to be making over for next Wednesday's post.

Sunshine Stamping Desk Tidy 1

This project was actually the inspiration for me starting this Midweek Make-Over series. It's from waaaaay back in 2010 (hence the awful photos), when I hadn't been doing my classes for very long, and I designed it as a class project. I've been wanting to revisit it for ages, though I didn't think it was quite so long ago! I did a bit of a double-take when I saw the date on the files!

The original post is on my (very) old blog site, so I'm not even sure if it's findable. To save you having to hunt, here are another couple of pics. Again, apologies for the photos - they're really not good, but hopefully you get the idea.

I made a batch of cards to keep in it, too...

Goodness, these are from a long time ago! We have moved since, and I no longer have space to run my classes from home. I miss being able to do that....

So. This is the project that I'm going to be revisiting in next Wednesday's blog post. I'm really excited about remaking this one with gorgeous new products. Do pop back then to have a look.

I hope you're having a brilliant week! Thanks for dropping in... xx

How are you enjoying my Sunday Sketches? I hope they're inspiring you to get into your craftrooms and get creative, 'cause that's what it's all about, after all. I've got an interesting one for you this week:

Sunshine Stamping Sunday Sketch Challenge No 3

And here are my sample cards for you:

I love these! I'd never actually been that keen on the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper (used on the card on the right), but I think it really works with this design. Cute use of the strawberry stamp in place of the bow, too, don't you think? And Blooms& Bliss is always gorgeous, whichever way you use it. I've popped details of everything that's used in these two cards at the bottom of this post.

Have you been inspired by this sketch? Send your project pictures to me, either by commenting on this post, or by dropping me an email, and I'll share my favourites so that everyone can enjoy them too. I always love to hear from you!

Thanks for dropping in!

Wow - what a week! We've been back and forth to Peterborough twice this week (five hour round trip each time) to get some more work done on the house, and it's nearly ready to rent out again. I ache EVERYWHERE, but the garden is now looking more like a garden than a long-forgotten wilderness, so at least my pain is worth it.  All in a good cause, eh?

This week's colour challenge photo really called to me. Parts of the UK have been lucky enough to experience the Northern Lights recently, but we're way too far south. I would so love to see them! Have you ever seen them in real life? (If you have, send me photos and tell me what it was like - I'll be so jealous!). For now, though, I make do with poring over pretty pictures like this one. I found the image via Google, but managed not to jot down the details so I can't give credit. I'll see if I can remedy that...

Sunshine Stamping Colour Challenge 3

Here is my card for this week's challenge. What do you think? For some reason, I actually found this one quite hard. I think I have a tendency to try to include equal amounts of each colour, which I suppose isn't a good idea from a design point of view. One to work on, perhaps.

I have to be honest and say this doesn't "sing" to me as much as the inspiration photo does, but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out in the end. It's a while since I dug out "Kinda Eclectic", and I really do like it. The sunburst, in particular, is just SO useful.

I'd really love to be able to share some of your colour challenge cards too, but I don't have any to post. [*sad face*]. I've had a number of you get in touch to say you're enjoying the new challenges, but none have been brave enough to send me your photos. Please do! I'd love to see what your colour combo cards turn out like - I'm new to doing them too, and it would be great to be able to get some inspiration from you all. You can post your photos in the comments, or send them to me in an email. I'll share my favourites in my blog and on my Facebook page, so everyone can enjoy them.

Thanks for dropping by. I'm off to do my "Totally Trees" class this afternoon, so I'll have those projects to share with you soon, and of course I'll be back tomorrow with this week's Sketch Challenge. Have a great weekend! xx
