I'd love to be able to paint! My mum is a brilliant watercolourist, but somehow it skipped a generation. So discovering the "Happy Watercolour" stamp set in Stampin' Up!'s new Spring Summer catalogue was a revelation for me - just look at this fabulous poppy stamped against a beautiful wash of colour!

That gorgeous spash of paint was created, believe it or not, with a rubber stamp. I would never have believed that a stamp could look like watercolouring, with all the subtle gradations of colour, but this is incredible. And the best bit is, I can re-create it time after time after time, in any colour I want to. Just perfect!

Isn't the poppy amazing too? Poppies are, I think, my favourite flowers. I have wonderful memories of seeing great clouds of them strewn along the Leicestershire hedgerows as I walked through the country lanes near our house as a child, and they always bring back memories of long, hot, lazy summer days. And, again, I could never draw a poppy like this. I couldn't draw a poppy that anyone would recognise as anything remotely approaching a poppy, for that matter. This is one of the major reasons that I stamp. This way, I know the image is going to look like it should, and it saves me the mortification that I remember from art classes at school. (It took me YEARS before I realised that creativity was about more than being able to paint or draw; it's why I'm so passionate about helping everyone to explore their creative side now.)

Here's another card, using the same watercolour wash stamp, but with another image from the same stamp set. I love this flower stem! - and look how different the watercolour wash looks when it's used in this way:

The sentiments are from the same stamp set too..

I'm so taken with this stamp set, that I've changed my plans for our March class, and we'll be using this set - I want you to have the chance to play with it, and too see how wonderful and versatile it is. I'll be opening booking for this class over the weekend, so do pop back and have a look - I'd love to see you there!

The products used in today's projects are set out in the table at the bottom of this post. If you click on any of the images, you'll be able to see the items in more detail in my Online Shop, and of course everything is available to order through me, either online or in person.

Hope you like today's projects - I have more loveliness on its way tomorrow, so do pop back then! See you soon!

Hello again! I have another project video today - a beautiful gift box that fits C6 cards and envelopes in it, made using Stampin' Up!'s fantastic Envelope Punch Board. I hope you like it!
The box fits the four cards I showcased in Friday and Saturday's blog posts, though you could use it, instead, to pop in a single, heavily-decorated or decoupaged card that is too thick to fit into a standard envelope.
The belly band uses some of the gorgeous free Designer Series Paper from the Sweet Sorbet pack, which you can get free during Sale-a-Bration (until 31st March 2014). The ribbon is the lush Ruffled Stretch Trim (otherwise known by some of my customers as knicker-elastic) - and the colour is Crisp Canteloupe - despite me insisting on calling it Calypso Coral in the video! Full "ingredients" are listed in the table at the foot of this post.
If you'd like to find out more about Sale-A-Bration, and how you can get your hand on free goodies, just click here and you'll be taken to the page you need on my website. It's easy to contact me if you have any questions, just drop me an email at
